The Email Authentication plugin allows users to login using their email address.
Update translator documentation. L10n and i18n updates. Break long lines in README before or at 80 characters. Superfluous whitespace removed.

The provided email address is used to lookup the user's nickname, then that
nickname and the provided password is checked.
