Vítor Santos Costa 53a8a8f7c9 try to make MT more robust by: 
- tracking memory overflows (still worried about blobs)
- moving core components to C-code, namely the mailboxes.
- reducing locking: too many locks == deadlock.
thanks to Paulo Moura for the test suite!
