Looking at the code, it seems that a normalizer might be called with a `null` value for `$data`, and thus it's only sensible that it be allowed to return `null` too:

[Routing] revert the return type for UrlGeneratorInterface::generate to remove null

Bit of a casualty of commit tennis this:
A change to add `null` here as an option for how `UrlGeneratorInterface::generate()` (rather than the concrete `UrlGenerator`) was merged in https://github.com/symfony/symfony/pull/28321, but then [reverted](90494c20cc) for the reason [that this could be seen as a BC break](https://github.com/symfony/symfony/pull/28321#issuecomment-418540080), as the `null` return had not previously been documented (and is still not as part of the interface method docs).
However, in a subsequent change (https://github.com/symfony/symfony/pull/33252) with a wider scope, this doc change was added _back_ in order to reflect the underlying implementation as a result of a PHPStorm plugin complaining. There's no indication though of what a `null` return here though would mean, and for the same reason as the first revert (that this should be seen as a BC break), I'd like to submit this to be reverted for the 3.4 branch. (In 4.4 the `null` has already been removed.)
Having the interface indicating that this method can return `null` necessitates introducing a lot of actually redundant null checks in code that is covered by static analysis tools such as PHPStan.

When running multiple periods in StopwatchEvent (start multiple times and not stop them all), the getDuration() method would return unexpected values.
This was because at every stop, the last entry in the `started` array was removed, while the `getDuration` method was still expecting all the started events to still be there.
Now, when calling `getDuration`, the duration of all the finished periods are added together with the unfinished counts.

`\Symfony\Component\Config\Resource\GlobResource::getIterator` loads files using `glob` not it the stable sorting, e.g several files: `doctrine.yml` and `doctrine_mongodb.yaml` in `config/packages` folder.
On requests these files come(randomly) in a different order, which leads to reinitialization of symfony kernel in `dev` environment. It's a little bit annoying and takes a lot of time in a common :(

[SecurityBundle] correct types for default arguments for firewall configs

| Branch? | 3.4 (and forward)
| Bug fix? | yes
| New feature? | no
| Deprecations? | no

Up until now, the default template arguments in the `security.firewall.config` abstract service definition have been each defined (aside from the argument for `$listeners` which is given a `collection` type) in the XML as
```xml
<argument />
```
which resolves to an empty string, despite that some of the arguments are typed to being either `bool` or `array|null` on the `Symfony\Bundle\SecurityBundle\Security\FirewallConfig` class itself.
This wouldn't be so much of a problem if the child definitions that use this as a template overrode all the arguments every time, but in the case of firewall configs that mark security as _not_ being enabled, [only the first few arguments are overwritten](https://github.com/symfony/symfony/blob/3.4/src/Symfony/Bundle/SecurityBundle/DependencyInjection/SecurityExtension.php#L349-L352), so firewall config objects that do not have security enabled are instantiated by the DI container with parameters with some of the wrong types.
In general this wouldn't be an issue, as firewalls with security not enabled would not usually be consumed in a context where further security-related config were needed, but there is a case in `Symfony\Bundle\SecurityBundle\DataCollector\SecurityDataCollector` where the method `getSwitchUser()` on the firewall config object [can be called](https://github.com/symfony/symfony/blob/3.4/src/Symfony/Bundle/SecurityBundle/DataCollector/SecurityDataCollector.php#L181) without checking first whether the firewall has security enabled, which leads to an exception being thrown:
```
Symfony\Component\Debug\Exception\ContextErrorException
Warning: Illegal string offset 'parameter'
in vendor/symfony/symfony/src/Symfony/Bundle/SecurityBundle/DataCollector/SecurityDataCollector.php (line 184)
```
which is down to the firewall config being set with an empty string rather than `null` (in which case the logic here would function as expected).
It seemed most appropriate as a fix (especially given possible introduction of scalar type hints in the future) to apply types to the default arguments so that it was no longer possible to instantiate a firewall config object with parameters of unexpected types.

Drupal is testing on PHP7.4 and hitting a problem with the line `if ('[' === $subPath[0]) {` because `$subPath` is not a string. We're already doing string casting in the method so we could do it once and be done. Note this is not a problem on the master branch / SF5 because of primitive typehinting.
Without this fix on PHP7.4 you see errors like...
```
1) Symfony\Component\Validator\Tests\Util\PropertyPathTest::testAppend with data set #5 ('0', 1, '0.1', 'Numeric subpaths do not cause...rrors.')
`$this->context->getGroup()` returns `string` or `null`.
`ContextualValidatorInterface::validate()` 3rd argument accepts an array but it must not contain `null` (its contract doesn't allow it). If it does, it will fail in `RecursiveContextualValidator::validateInGroup()` for example because of the `string` scalar type on the `$group` argument. (on 4.4)
Note that in our "common" usage of the `Valid` constraint, the group in its validator will never be `null` because this constraint has a special treatment. However, if this validator is reused in a custom way, it can fail.
When you try to impersonate users with a falsy username, `SwitchUserListener::handle()` would `return;` and impersonation would fail.
I'm using a third party OAuth provider that allows users to change their usernames with no guaranteed protection against re-use. To overcome that issue, I implemented `UserLoaderInterface::loadUserByUsername()` and query by a `providerId`.
After loading development fixtures, One user has `0` as it's `providerId`.
In symfony/recipes#652 I would like to make Flex create the `phpunit.xml.dist` file with a local URI for the `phpunit.xsd`. This is doable when using `phpunit/phpunit` standalone because the path to the XSD file is known. [Translation] Collect original locale in case of fallback translation
Before, it collected the fallback locale that was used to translate a key. But this information is confusing, as it does not reveal which translation key is missing in the requested language.
So I'd like to propose to track the "requested" locale instead, so that the Symfony profiler gives me the information in which locale the key is missing instead of which locale was used as a fallback.
In principle, this change is a BC break, but imho also a bug. It's really confusing when the Profiler tells you that it uses a translation fallback for an ID and locale that is actually translated. Took some debugging so recognize that this fallback came from another locale. If you think it's better to target 5.0, I'll update the PR.
Since `$response->getContent()` returns string and our first parameter is already string as well, in some cases (with different precisions) it may "compare strings" as "strings" and this is not what the test wants.
By changing the first parameter to actual number we force `AssertEquals` to compare them numerically rather than literally by string content.
This PR fixes a regression introduces in #33332. If you set the `Expires` header to null when creating a `Response`, the `getExpires` function returned a date instead of null.
```php
$response = new Response(null, 200, ['Expires' => null]);
$response->getExpires(); // Returns a date currently, but should return null

Changed the getServiceIds implementation in the Container base class to include aliases. Modified existing tests. Added test which uses the PhpDumper.
Fixes https://github.com/symfony/symfony/issues/33307
Without this patch the implementations of the container are inconsistent in whether or not they return aliases (see issue). Fixing this could be considered a BC break for the affected Container class.
As an alternative to keep the behaviour in Container unchanged, the dumped container could be patched instead. And then only apply this version of the patch to master. This however keeps the inconsistency between Container and ContainerBuilder.

- ~~Use `@inheritdoc` in `Button` and `ButtonBuilder` where the method does satisfy the contract.~~
- ~~Add `This method should not be invoked` in all unsupported methods in `Button` and `ButtonBuilder` for consistency.~~
- ~~Fix the misused `idempotent` term in implementations of the `getFormConfig` method. It is wrong in the sense that the method does not always return the same result. You can `setAttribute` for instance and `getFormConfig` will return a different config object.~~
- ~~Add `if ($this->locked)` checks in the supported mutators.~~
- ~~Fix the arguments contract in the `ChoiceListFactoryInterface` — now it supports `PropertyPathInterface` explicitly. The downside of it — breaking LSP in the `DefaultChoiceListFactory`.~~
- Fix the `$label` phpdoc of the `ChoiceView` (arised in https://github.com/symfony/symfony/pull/32237).
- Use `PropertyPathInterface` instead of `PropertyPath` in `PropertyAccessDecorator` of the choice factory.
- Fix `ArrayChoiceList::flatten` type hints.
These changes are debatable, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong at some point.

The PHPUnit method [handleError](https://github.com/sebastianbergmann/phpunit/blob/8.2.5/src/Util/ErrorHandler.php#L38) was renamed to [__invoke](https://github.com/sebastianbergmann/phpunit/blob/8.3/src/Util/ErrorHandler.php#L71) in v8.3.
So we should check in Symfony [DeprecationErrorHandler](https://github.com/symfony/symfony/blob/v4.3.3/src/Symfony/Bridge/PhpUnit/DeprecationErrorHandler.php) if method `handleError` exists, otherwise call `__invoke`
It works with phpunit v8.2.5 and 8.3.2.
The PHPUnit handler is called when I trigger some error, e.g `iconv('fdsfs', 'fsdfds', '');`

Phpunit handle multiple covers annotation:
```
/**
```
The coverage solver was only allowed to return `ClassOne` or `ClassTwo` since it was transformed to `[ClassName]`. Returning `[ClassOne, ClassTwo]` was transform to [[ClassOne, ClassTwo]]` which was creating an error with phpunit. This PR fixed this case.

In https://github.com/symfony/symfony/pull/32627, I (a script actually) removed 2 fixtures classes from this test class. They are actually used but by tests that don't fail without them 😁 (because they were mocked and it's possible to mock non existing classes).

When using symfony/framework-bundle with symfony/validator installed but without symfony/translation, the call to setTranslator will error out because of the missing translator service. Thus, the call to setTranslator needs to ignore a missing translator dependency to support this scenario.

The validation(function normalizeBinaryFormat) in symfony/src/Symfony/Component/Validator/Constraints/File.php doesn't work with gigabyte values in php.ini.
In the PHP documentation it says "PHP allows shortcuts for byte values, including K (kilo), M (mega) and G (giga). " so in my opinion these values should work.

When one uses Docker with a different mounting point between CLI & FPM,
the cache keeps regenerating because the ComposerResource class see a
different path for each SAPI. For example `/home/app/app/vendor` vs
`/var/www/app/vendor`.
So if you hit FPM, then the CLI, then FPM, each time a new cache is
generated. So the application is quite slow in dev env. And for people
on MacOSX (with docker) is a big pain! And obvisouly, this never
stabilizes !
This occurs a lot when you have a worker, that crash and reboot in the
background, and you browse the web interface. Or when you have something
that hit your API every X secondes, and you are working on a worker.

If the included file doesn't exist, we need to return or the execution continues (if warnings are not thrown as exceptions) and then an invalid exception is thrown when the class is checked.
For example : "The autoloader expected class "App\Foo\Bar" to be defined in file "/var/www/html/vendor/composer/../../src/Foo/Bar.php". The file was found but the class was not in it, the class name or namespace probably has a typo".

[Form] Name related PHPDoc fixes

As I started working on #32179 in #32237, I noticed some PHPDoc inconsistencies around the form's name. I have researched the issue thoroughly and here's my proposal:
1. All "factory" methods (`FormFactory::create*`, `ResolvedFormType::createBuilder`, `FormBuilder::create|add`, `Form::add`) currently accept string and integer names. This should not be deprecated, because it's very convenient and natural to pass ints when adding children to types like `ChoiceType` or `CollectionType`.
1. None of the "factory" methods explicitly accepts `null` as a name, although passing `null` works the same as passing `''`. I consider passing `null` in this case to be ugly, so I corrected the builder's constructors mentioning `null` as a possible argument. One should pass an empty string `''` when creating such a form. We could also deprecate passing `null` in a PR targeting 4.4.
1. Currently the name becomes a string in the builder's (or config builder's) constructor. Which means that `FormConfigInterface::getName` always returns a string and thus the form's `$name` property is always a string. All related checks and PHPDocs should be corrected.
1. The "children accessors" (`Form::has|get|remove`, `FormBuilder::has|get|remove`) should accept both strings and ints because they are array-accessible by design (so it does not really matter, if the key is a string or an int). If it's valid to have `$collectionForm->add(1, ItemType::class)`, then it should be valid to do `$collectionForm->get(1)`. And it works in code, but is not mentioned in the PHPDoc.

When using a custom router that inject GET parameters, eg:
```
# services.yaml
parameters:
# Replace default url generator service
router.options.generator_base_class: Combodo\iTop\Portal\Routing\UrlGenerator
```
The path generated by the toolbar JS is HTML entity encoded which breaks the JS call (`&` becomes `&`).

When a project is created, framework.yaml or config.yml has handler_id set to ~. This uses the native php SessionHandler object which is instantiated with the save_path setting from php.ini or php-fpm.d/www.conf. If you set a save_path, it is silently ignored. When using mod_php for apache or php-fpm running as apache/nginx this is typically not a big deal (except your session files are stored someplace other than you actually wanted). However if using php-fpm and running as a non-standard user for the distro, it will fail silently. Sessions won't be saved because the setting has no effect. This throws a warning in those cases to inform the user.
_It could be a BC because it changes the default configuration however fixes a 'long standing bug' if you will. Not sure what you want to do about that part._

Plurals were not handled correctly when loading mo files.
```
msgid "foo"
msgid_plural "foos"
msgstr[0] "bar"
msgstr[1] "bars"
```
Before, the mo entry above was treated as two entries, which doesn't make sense:
```
'foo' => 'bar'
'foos' => '{0} bar|{1} bars'
```
With this PR, it is treated as one entry:
```
'foo|foos' => 'bar|bars'
```
This PR does the same as #31266, just for mo files instead of po files. Note, however, that the old behavior differed between po and mo files: `'foos' => 'bar|bars'` for po files and `'foos' => '{0} bar|{1} bars'` for mo files.

PR #31860 provided handling of PHP 7.3 `JSON_THROW_ON_ERROR` behavior in the various `JsonEncode` and related classes/methods.
PR #31869 adjusted that. In particular, it adjusted ` src/Symfony/Component/Serializer/Encoder/JsonDecode.php` so that it catches any `JsonException` and re-throws it as `NotEncodableValueException`. That preserves the previous behavior of `JsonDecode:decode` - it always throws `NotEncodableValueException` when something goes wrong.
IMO `JsonEncode:encode` needs the same logic. At the moment, if a caller specifies `JSON_THROW_ON_ERROR` then the method can throw `JsonException`, but actually the "standard" for `JsonEncode:encode` is that it throws `NotEncodableValueException`
Adjust `JsonEncode:encode` to catch `JsonException` and rethrow it as `NotEncodableValueException`

A new warning has been added in PHP 7.3 that is breaking BC with Symfony, since we turn warnings into exceptions.
This PR turns the new warning into a deprecation, so that we will be able to remove the added "if" in 5.0.
I noticed a few other similar BC breaks in 7.1 and 7.2, but *unless someone reports that they block them*, I don't think we need to care.
- 7.1 A non well formed numeric value encountered E_NOTICE
- 7.1 A non-numeric value encountered E_WARNING
- 7.2 count() now raises a warning when an invalid parameter is passed.
See https://github.com/php/php-src/blob/PHP-7.1/UPGRADING + same in upper branches.

SimpleCacheAdapter fails to cache any item if a namespace is used

This is a backport of #32019
The SimpleCacheAdapter extends AdapterTestCase.
When adding a namespace, the AdapterTestCase adds ":" after the namespace:
https://github.com/symfony/symfony/blob/v4.3.1/src/Symfony/Component/Cache/Adapter/AbstractAdapter.php#L37
The namespace is prepended to the cache key.
But in PSR-16, the ":" is a forbidden character.
As a result, the cache key is invalid and cache is not persisted. If you use Psr16Adapter + a namespace, the cache simply does not work.
As per @nicolas-grekas advices, a NS_SEPARATOR const is added to change the namespace separator for the `SimpleCacheAdapter` to "_" (that is compatible with PSR-16).
The first commit of this PR starts with an additional test and no fix (to showcase the problem).

Previously, if `true` was passed in as a value to the CSV encoder then `fputcsv()` would correctly treat it as 1. However, if `false` was passed in, it would be treated as a blank value. `null` would also be treated as a blank value.
This fix makes it consistent so that true and false will map to 1 and 0, while null maps to an empty string.

This fixes two edge cases in the url generator:
1. when the context scheme is not known (empty) generating an absolute url would return an invalid url starting with `://host/path`. #25491 handled the case when the host is unknown which makes sense. but the way it was done, created this new problem.
2. non-http(s) urls do not require a host. e.g. typical `file:///path` urls. url generator is fixed to be in line with rfc3986

In commit 56429a6f08 the `Button` type was removed from the return doc block.
I suspect this was an oversight because, AFAIK, the [recommended way](https://symfony.com/doc/current/form/multiple_buttons.html) to check the name of a clicked button would require a return type of `Button` or `SubmitButton`.
The effect is that our static analysis checks are failing.

There is a problem, when server uses outdated version of ICU (php-intl).
It throws no exeption or debug message on unexisting Timezone. So sometimes you can get wrong DateTime in Forms, because Intl uses 'Etc/Unknown' (UTC+0) instead correct Timezone. And it happens very unobvious.

Perform a case-insensitive check on `$headers` in \Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\RedirectResponse::__construct()
Commits
-------
b5e6c99a3b [HttpFoundation] Fixed case-sensitive handling of cache-control header in RedirectResponse constructor.
Currently BinaryFileResponse, when configured with X-Accel-Redirect sendfile type,
will only substitute file paths specified in X-Accel-Mapping. But if the provided
file path does not have a defined prefix, then the resulting header will include
the absolute path. Nginx expects a valid URI, therefore this will result in an
issue that is very hard to detect and debug as it will not show up in error logs
and instead the request would just hang for some time and then be re-served
without query parameters(?).
Use AssertEquals for these two specific case will do a better job,
since it'll convert both '0.1' and result of `getContent()` into PHP's
internal representation of floating-point and compares them and it should be fine.
Using `AssertSame` for this tests brings floating-point serialization
into consideration which of course will be php.ini specific.
In order not missing the type assertion point that `AssertSame` does,
we also perform `assertInternalType('string'...`

### Description
Add a regression test `Symfony\Component\Process\Tests\ProcessTest:testWaitStoppedDeadProcess` to reproduce the related bug #31548 . It consists of one file `ErrorProcessInitiator.php`, which executes as another process because otherwise if `Process::wait()` goes in an infinite loop (which is test checks) it will be impossible to handle it and stop test correctly.
The second commit contains bug fix, which is only `$this->checkTimeout();` call, that prevents infinite loop.

d08f195502 minor: add some test in the ldap component
When using factories it's common best practice to use interface as class name, especially in cases
where you know impl can differ. Before this fix ProxyManager did not allow these to be lazy.
In our case this has lead several to hard to debug issues on classes we need to mark as lazyi
and often a need to add lazy on decorators if there are any or other workarounds.
As we have had this issue, and still have on both 2.8 and 3.4 this is opened against 2.8.

7ab52d3c36 [Routing][AnnotationClassLoader] fix utf-8 encoding in default route name
If the included file contains an error, it hides the real error. This
makes debugging harder.
How to reproduce:
```
composer create-project symfony/skeleton symfony-3.4 3.4
cd symfony-3.4
composer req monolog
```
Add to `monolog.yaml`:
```yaml
elasticsearch:
type: "elasticsearch"
elasticsearch:
host: 'elasticsearch'
port: '9200'
index: 'ep_php_logs_dev'
level: 'debug'
tags: 'monolog.logger'
channels: ['!event']
```
This will fail because the the \Elastica\Client class does not exist.
But this error will be hidden by the `ClassNotFoundFatalErrorHandler`
because it will try to load the `Symfony\Component\Kernel\Client` and
this class extends `Symfony\Component\BrowserKit\Client`. The last one
is a soft dependency...

Before
```
After:
This is the last architectural change for the Intl data compilation. Promised.
It fixes de-duplicating a locale from its fallback locale. The problem is it uses a while-loop, comparing the locale to each fallback locale.
Given
- `root` (val=A)
- `ur` (val=B)
- `ur_IN` (val=A)
We have an edge case where a locale (ur_IN) override its fallback locale (ur), setting/restoring the value back to the root locale. This happens for the GMT format in the timezone bundle i know of ... in this case the `ur_IN` locale needs to write its own value.
The current approach is a while-loop comparing each fallback locale (ur, root) to the current locale (ur_IN). Eventually comparing `ur_IN <> root`, which causes a wrong diff, as such `ur_IN` falls back to `ur` providing the wrong value (val=B, where val=A is expected).
The new approach uses recursion so we only compare `ur <> ur_IN`, where `ur_IN` on itself is compared to `root`.
It is hard to understand what "Built on top" refers to, and even when
knowing, the sentence looks weird.
This reverts commit 029fb2e7e3, reversing
changes made to 9dad29d61c.
Reverts #30620
Replaces #31215
We don't need to solve this in 3.4
Making the session resettable should be done on master, by implementing `ResetInterface`.
On 3.4 apps, one should write a dedicated `SessionResetter` that would implement the reverted logic.
fix ConsoleFormatter - call to a member function format() on string
The ConsoleFormatter crashes when there is not a DateTime object in `$record['datetime']`. As this parameter is not documented anywhere (i.e. `FormatterInterface` does not say it must be a DateTime object), I think the proper fix is to check if there is DateTimeInterface object and only call the `format` method then.
We use a custom LogProcessor (https://symfony.com/doc/current/logging/processors.html) to add some extra data and format the DateTime in the `$record['datetime']`. We need to format the DateTime in the processor, because we use `JsonFormatter` in prod environment and it does not support changing the date format. We use `ConsoleFormatter` only in dev environment and as the processor is called before the formatter, we get the crash.
There were no tests whatsoever for `ConsoleFormatter`, so I've added a basic one, that passes before and after, and another one that tests the crash (failed before, passed after).
There is a theoretical BC break, as someone could have sent an object with a `format` method to the formatter and it would have worked, but I'm not sure if it's considered BC break by Symfony, please let me know, if it is.
#30888 added some tests on master which fail when `property-info <3.4.13` is installed.
This bumps the constraint on 3.4 which will fix the low-deps build once merged up to master.
[TwigBundle] Use the apply tag instead of the filter tag
The filter has been deprecated in favor of the apply tag since Twig 2.9,
see https://twig.symfony.com/doc/2.x/tags/filter.html (apply does not
It didn't take long for the ICU team to release a new version.
From their [changelog](http://site.icu-project.org/download/64#TOC-ICU4C-Download), 64.2 provides bug fixes and:
* Draft Unicode 12.1 data integration
* Updated locale data imported from CLDR 35.1
* Support for the new Japanese era "Reiwa" (令和).
Some mime types have a camelCase word in them.
The Apache HTTPD project list items are all lower case.
So I suggest making the $mimeType string lowercase while checking the array key.
That way, we can keep the list in sync.
Example: xlsm file mime type is `application/vnd.ms-excel.sheet.macroEnabled.12`
The key that matches the xlsm extension in the `$defaultExtensions` array is `application/vnd.ms-excel.sheet.macroenabled.12`
Example xlsm file:
