This PR replaces #11456. It adds a "label_format" option which allows to configure a format for generating labels. Two placeholders are available: `%name%` and `%id%`.
**Feedback wanted**: Should we change the placeholders to `{{ name }}` and `{{ id }}`?
The option is inherited from the parent form if not set explicitly on a field:

```

I wanted to customize the template of a children of a choice field. I learned it was not currently possible, though it is with the collection type. So this should let people be able to customize the template for all the choice children at once.

Right now, the "required" HTML attribute is set for both fields (since the default value of the "required" option is true). IMO this is wrong.
With this fix, the ValidatorTypeGuesser guesses `false` for the "required" option unless a NotNull/NotBlank constraint is present.

#### Possible BC Break
The old behavior had unit test cases specifically testing the case of a grand-children form. However, this behavior is not documented anywhere and the fix seems to have no adverse effects on form validation. `Symfony\Component\Form\FormInterface` implements `ArrayAccess`, therefore, semantically speaking, `children[direct_child].children[grand_children]` and `children[direct_child][grand_children]` are equivalent. `offsetGet` is expected to fetch an element from `children`. I do not see why both were not considered equivalent when resolving the ViolationPath.
This commit will indeed change how some errors are mapped. However since the old mapping is (in my opinion) a bug...

Since Symfony 2.5
The problem was that the form component has a hardcoded depencency to the deprecated validator component (api Version 2.4)
The pull request fixes the dependency to the validator component and supports now both implementations, apiVersion 2.5 and apiVersion 2.4 of the validator component.

Same issue as #9976 and #10203: when you add a `time` field to a form with options `single_text` (so HTML5) and `with_seconds`, the generated input does not contain the `step` attribute, therefore the browser does not show them, leading to an error at the submit because of an invalid format.

The onSubmit() method of the ResizeFormListener class is assuming the data is an array, and calling unset directly inside a foreach. This works fine in most scenarios, but if data is an instance of IteratorAggregate, it breaks with the following error:

This is because the foreach loop is using an Iterator in the background, but the ResizeFormListener has unset the underlying data directly, causing the Iterator and data to be out of sync. When the data is an instance of IteratorAggregate, the loop should use the iterator directly and not rely on foreach.
The onSubmit method has been updated accordingly.

This PR adresses the issue that if you have a form collection with the option required => false and you submit an empty collection so you will get a ArrayCollection that contains en element with the value null.
This behaviour was introduced with the following changes from symfony/symfony#3257

With the changes of this PR the new option empty_data is introduced. With this option you will be able to ignore/delete such empty collections, so they will neither be validated nor appear as empty field in the result.
The option will remove/ignore such empty collections if you add them newly and if allow_add is enabled and
removes such empty collections only if allow_delete is enabled.
With setting required and empty_data accordingly it will be now flexible to customize to the outcome you want to achieve.

or ignore is the appropriate name.

I'm using the Form component to handle JSON requests which come from AJAX requests. The JSON is formed by the Angular toJson method
A typical request would be:

Note that in this case, what I entered in my input boxes are 7:00 for start and 17:00 for end times. As you can see, Angular (or Chrome, I'm not sure), converts this to the "Z" timezone. Since I cannot enforce the correct timezone client side, the timezone will differ from the one configured in the DateTimeType, however, instead of resulting in either an error or a conversion to the correct timezone, I get a datetime object in the wrong timezone, eventually resulting in wrong values in the database.
By checking the required output timezone against the actual timezone of the input datetime object, rather than the expected timezone supplied, this problem is solved.

#8362 was reverted because it introduces a failing test that is caused by a regression. This PR takes the alternative approach that
* unsubmitted fields in the PATCH request remain unsubmitted
* `isValid()` ignores unsubmitted children
* `mapFormsToData()` ignores unsubmitted children
In my opinion this is a more proper solution than #8362.

This change was discussed for a while in #5493. **(*)** It breaks BC *only for people who implemented* `FormInterface` *manually* (not a lot, so I hope). These can fix the problem by simply renaming `bind()` and `isBound()` in their implementation to `submit()` and `isSubmitted()`.
The main rationale is that with the request handlers introduced in #6522, people won't be confronted with the term "binding" anymore. As such, `isBound()` will be a very strange name to new users that have never used `bind()` manually.
See this code sample as example:
```php
$form = $this->createForm(...);
$form->handleRequest($request);
// Imagine you have never heard about bind() or binding. What does this mean?
if ($form->isBound()) {
// ...
}
```
In reality, `bind()` submits a form. Where-ever I renamed "bind" to "submit" in the comments, "submit" made actually much more sense. So it does in the code sample above:
```php
$form = $this->createForm(...);
$form->handleRequest($request);
// Aha!
if ($form->isSubmitted()) {
// ...
}
```
Also when using `submit()` directly, the code makes much more sense now:
```php
$text = $this->createForm('text');
$text->submit('New Value');
```
For current users, the current naming will be supported until 3.0.

The Intl component is now a simple drop-in replacement layer for the C intl extension. Install it via Composer and have it available automatically if the intl extension is not available.
Additionally, the component ships data from the ICU library which can be accessed through the methods:

Intl::getCurrencyBundle()->...
Intl::getLanguageBundle()->...
Intl::getLocaleBundle()->...
Intl::getRegionBundle()->...
```
If the intl extension is installed, Composer will install the ICU data for the ICU version in the intl extension. If the intl extension is not installed, Composer will use stub ICU data for the latest ICU version (see `Intl::getStubIcuVersion()`).

The general idea of this PR is to be able to add buttons to forms like so:

$builder->add('clickme', 'submit');
```
You can then check in the controller whether the button was clicked:

if ($form->get('clickme')->isClicked()) {
// do stuff
}
```
Button-specific validation groups are also supported:
```php
$builder->add('clickme', 'submit', array(
'validation_groups' => 'OnlyClickMe',
));
```
The validation group will then override the one defined in the form if that button is clicked.
This PR also introduces the disabling of form validation by passing the value `false` in the option `validation_groups`:
```php
$builder->add('clickme', 'submit', array(
'validation_groups' => false,
));
```
The same can be achieved (already before this PR) by passing an empty array:
```php
$builder->add('clickme', 'submit', array(
'validation_groups' => array(),
));
```

Improve bytes conversion method
This PR improves bytes conversion `regex` method introduced in #7413 (thanks to @vicb's comments).
* Adds support of `+` prefix.
* Adds support of blank chars between `+`, number and unit.

It's probably not the cleanest code possible, but I don't see any other way to keep the type for BC and avoid the deprecated message when called internally.
That should fix the deprecated messages thrown by the Form and Validator components.

Nobody will ever instantiate the FieldType directly as the framework is registering it (btw, you are missing the FrameworkBundle lazy registration here).

DateType's month select box returns timestamps when used with intl extension disabled (see #6485).
The reason for this is that stubbed formats use *L* instead of *M* for month representation. My fix is simply taking this into account when building array for the select box.
I didn't provide unit tests since they're disabled when intl extension is not enabled. I've only manually verified if the months array contains correct data.

[StubIntlDateFormatter uses FullTransformer](https://github.com/symfony/symfony/blob/2.1/src/Symfony/Component/Locale/Stub/StubIntlDateFormatter.php#L206) to format the date. [FullTransformer supports both *L* and *M*](https://github.com/symfony/symfony/blob/2.1/src/Symfony/Component/Locale/Stub/DateFormat/FullTransformer.php#L50) formats. Both formats are treated interchangeably.

IMO it's fine to just duplicate the `@deprecated` note in the message, since anyway this code is meant to be completely deleted, this duplication should not do much harm.

Travis is failing, but that seems to be master being broken due to the Finder changes?
I changed a few cases where the code was using deprecated methods which wasn't necessary in my eyes, specifically 1d8211249b, 800a032f07, f3d696636a
The parts not given in the format are reset to the corresponding values of
the UNIX base timestamp. For example, when parsing with the format "Y-m-d",
parsing
"2012-05-18"
now results in the date
"2012-05-18 00:00:00 UTC"
instead of
"2012-05-18 12:58:27 UTC"
as before, where the time part corresponded to the local server time.
Another example: When parsing with the format "H:i:s", parsing
"12:58:27"
now results in
"1970-01-01 12:58:27 UTC"
instead of
"2012-12-13 12:58:27 UTC"

Drupal wants to use the Symfony Validator component in their next version. I was talking to @fago recently about the changes that we'd need to make and implemented these changes in this PR. I don't want to rush this, but the deadline is tight, since Drupal feature freeze is on December 1st and @fago needs at least a couple of days to integrate the Validator into Drupal.
This PR introduces two significant changes:
* Interfaces were created for all classes that constitute the Validator's API. This is were the PR breaks BC, because `ConstraintValidatorInterface::initialize()` is now type hinted against `ExecutionContextInterface` instead of `ExecutionContext`.
* The graph walker was refactored into an implementation of the Visitor pattern. This way, the validator was decoupled from the structure of the metadata (class → properties and getter methods) and makes it possible to implement a different metadata structure, as is required by the Drupal Entity API.
As a consequence of the API change, custom validation code is now much easier to write, because `ValidatorInterface` and `ExecutionContextInterface` share the following set of methods:

No more juggling with property paths, no more fiddling with the graph walker. Just call on the execution context what you'd call on the validator and you're done.
There are two controversial things to discuss and decide (cc @fabpot):
* I moved the `@api` tags of all implementations to the respective interfaces. Is this ok?
* I would like to deprecate `ValidatorInterface::getMetadataFactory()` (tagged as `@api`) in favor of the added `ValidatorInterface::getMetadataFor()`, which offers the exact same functionality, but with a different API and better encapsulation, which makes it easier to maintain for us. We can tag `getMetadataFor()` as `@api`, as I don't expect it to change. Can we do this or should we leave the old method in?
I would like to decide the major issues of this PR until **Sunday November 25th** in order to give @fago enough room for his implementation.

It seems to me that the check `mb_check_encoding($data, 'UTF-8')` is unnecessary. For non utf8 characters `preg_replace` returns `null` if `u` flag is set.

This PR changes the access to properties of `FormView` and `ChoiceView` objects from getters to direct property accesses. On [my example form](http://advancedform.gpserver.dk/app_dev.php/taxclasses/1) this improves rendering performance for **300ms** with PHP templates and **550ms** with Twig on my local machine.
Unfortunately, this breaks BC both with 2.0 and with the current master in Form Types and PHP templates. Twig templates are not affected by this change.

Should we add methods to keep BC with 2.0?
The second part of this PR contains improvements to the rendering of choice fields. These gain another **~500ms** for PHP templates and **80ms** for Twig. These improvements are BC, unless you overwrote the block "choice_widget_options" in your form themes which then needs to be adapted.

The PR now includes a BC layer for 2.0.

In Issue #3766, it was asked that Assert\Regex generates HTML5 pattern attribute.
It was done in PR #4077, but the generated Regex is in delimited format which is not supported by HTML5.
Hence, `/[a-z]+/` would be converted to `[a-z]+`.
If flags are specified like in `/[a-z]+/i`, it cannot be converted and pattern validation will be disabled client-side. If is however now possible, using a new option, `htmlPattern`, to specify the pattern you want to be used.
Example:

This PR also introduces a new helper `DefaultOptions` for solving option graphs. It accepts default options to be defined on various layers of your class hierarchy. These options can then be merged with the options passed by the user. This is called *resolving*.
The important feature of this utility is that it lets you define *lazy options*. Lazy options are specified using closures that are evaluated when resolving and thus have access to the resolved values of other (potentially lazy) options. The class detects cyclic option dependencies and fails with an exception in this case.

Setting a property path like "article.tags" will now automatically try to
favor addTag() and removeTag() over setTags(), if found. If you want to
set up a property path with an irregular singular that is not detected,
you can use "|" to separate the plural from the singular form in the
path: "article.genera|genus".
Another consequence of this commit is that the MergeCollectionListener has
been simplified a lot. Forms returning an array or a collection will
always result in adders/removers being called now without having to add
this listener.

__Introduction__
This extensive PR is a refactor with minimal BC breaks of the `[HttpFoundation]` component's session management which fixes several issues in the current implementation. This PR includes all necessary changes to other bundles and components is documented in the `CHANGELOG-2.1` and `UPGRADING-2.1`.
__Summary of Changes__
__Session:__
- Session object now implements `SessionInterface`
__Attributes:__
- Attributes now handled by `AttributeBagInterface`
- Added two AttributeBag implementations: `AttributeBag` replicates the current Symfony2 attributes behaviour, and the second, `NamespacedAttributeBag` introduces structured namespaced representation using '/' in the key. Both are BC. `FrameworkBundle` defaults to the old behaviour.
__Flash messages:__
- Flash messages now handled by `FlashBagInterface`
- Introduced `FlashBag` which changes the way flash messages expire, they now expire on use rather than automatically, useful for ESI.
- Introduced `AutoExpireFlashBag` (default) which replicates the old automatic expiry behaviour of flash messages.
__Session Storage:__
- Introduced a base object, `AbstractSessionStorage` for session storage drivers
- Introduced a `SessionSaveHandlerInterface` when using custom session save handlers
- Introduced a `NullSessionStorage` driver which allows for unsaved sessions
- Introduced new session storage drivers for Memcache and Memcached
- Introduced new session storage drivers for PHP's native SQLite, Memcache and Memcached support

- Fixed bugs where session attributes are not saved and all cases where flash messages would get lost
- Wrote new tests, refactored related existing tests and increased test coverage extensively.
__Rationale/Details__
I'll explain more detail in the following sections.
__Unit Tests__
All unit and functional tests pass.
__Note on Functional Testing__
I've introduced `MockFileSessionStorage` which replaces `FilesystemSessionStorage` to emulate a PHP session for functional testing. Essentially the same methodology of functional testing has been maintained but without interrupting the other session storage drivers interaction with real PHP sessions. The service is now called `session.storage.mock_file`.
__Session Workflow__
PHP sessions follow a specific workflow which is not being followed by the current session management implementation and is responsible for some unpredictable bugs and behaviours.
Basically, PHP session workflow is as follows: `open`, `read`, `write`, `close`. In between these can occur, `destroy` and `garbage collection`. These actions are handled by `session save handlers` and one is always registered in all cases. By default, the `files` save handler (internally to PHP) is registered by PHP at the start of code execution.
PHP offers the possibility to change the save handler to another internal type, for example one provided by a PHP extension (think SQLite, Memcache etc), or you can register a user type and set your own handlers. However __in all cases__ PHP requires the handlers.
The handlers are called when the following things occur:
- `open` and `read` when `session_start()` or the session autostarts when PHP outputs some display
- `destroy` when `session_regenerate_id(true)` is called
- `write` and `close` when PHP shuts down or when `session_write_close()` is called
- `garbage collection` is called randomly according to configurable probability
The next very important aspect of this PR is that `$_SESSION` plays an important part in this workflow because the contents of the $_SESSION is populated __after__ the `read` handler returns the previously saved serialised session data. The `write` handler is sent the serialised `$_SESSION` contents for save. Please note the serialisation is a different format to `serialize()`.
For this reason, any session implementation cannot get rid of using `$_SESSION`.

In order to make writing session storage drivers simple, I created a light base class `AbstractSessionStorage` and the `SessionSaveHandlerInterface` which allows you to quickly write native and custom save handler drivers.
__Flash Messages [BC BREAK]__
Flash messages currently allow representation of a single message per `$name`. Fabien designed the original system so that `$name` was equivalent to flash message type. The current PR changes the fact that Flash messages expire explicitly when retrieved for display to the user as opposed to immediately on the next page load.
The last issue fixes potential cases when flash messages are lost due to an unexpected intervening page-load (an error for example). The API `get()` has a flag which allows you to override the `clear()` action.
__Flash message translation__
This PR does not cover translation of flash messages because messages should be translated before calling the flash message API. This is because flash messages are used to present messages to the user after a specific action, and in any case, immediately on the next page load. Since we know the locale of the request in every case we can translate the message before storing. Secondly, translation is simply a string manipulation. Translation API calls should always have the raw untranslated string present because it allows for extraction of translation catalogs. __Session attribute and structured namespacing__
__This has been implemented without changing the current default behaviour__ but details are below for the alternative:
Attributes are currently stored in a flat array which limits the potential of session attributes:
Here are some examples to see why this 'structured namespace' methodology is extremely convenient over using a flat system. Let's look at an example with csrf tokens. Let's say we have multiple csrftokens stored by form ID (allowing multiple forms on the page and tabbed browsing).
If we're using a flat system, you might have
'tokens' => array('a' => 'a6c1e0b6',
'b' => 'f4a7b1f3')
With a flat system when you get the key `tokens`, you will get back an array, so now you have to analyse the array. So if you simply want to add another token, you have to follow three steps: get the session attribute `tokens`, have to add to the array, and lastly set the entire array back to the session.
$tokens = $session->get('tokens');
$tokens['c'] = $value;
$session->set('tokens', $tokens);
Doable, but you can see it's pretty long winded.
With structured namespacing you can simply do:
$session->set('c', $value, '/tokens');
There are several ways to implement this, either with an additional `$namespace` argument, or by treating a character in the `$key` as a namespacer. `NamespacedAttributeBag` treats `/` as a namespacer so you can represent `user.tokens/a` for example. The namespace character is configurable in `NamespacedAttributeBag`.

I've read through the documentation and upgrade notes, and I can't see anything that's obviously missing from #2510. Being able to support multiple flashes per type is the most important, and the API looks reasonable to me. Drupal does support supressing repeat messages, but that can easily be implemented in our code unless there's a compelling case for it to be a part of Symfony.
I wonder if PHP memcache support is required in Symfony given the availability of memcached. I'm not familiar with how other parts of Symfony handle it, but there is often quite a bit of confusion between the two PHP extensions. It could be simpler to remove one, or add a bit of info describing or linking to why there are two nearly identical classes.
Is it possible to make one class inherit from the other (memcached is a child of memcache)?

@deviantintegral - I agree about the confusion between memcache and memcached but actually, it is necessary to support both because `memcached` is not available everywhere. For example on Debian Lenny and RHEL/CentOS 5, only memcache is available by default. This would preclude a massive amount of shared hosting environments. Also, it is not possible to inherit one from the other, they are completely different drivers.
@Fristi - I also thought about the events, but they do not belong as part of the standalone component as this would create a coupling to the event dispatcher. The way you have done it, ie, in a bundle is the right way to achieve it.

From what I read from the IRC chat logs, the main concern of @fabpot is whether we really need multiple flash messages per type. I'm in favor of this PR and just want to add one point to this discussion.
At the moment you can add multiple flash messages of different type/category/identifier. For example you can specify one error message and one info message after an operation. I think most agree that this can be usefull.
But then it makes semantically no sense that you currently cannot add 2 info messages. This approach feels a bit half-done.
So I think this PR eliminates this paradox.

@drak I could also add the next scenario that I currently have to live with, in addition to @lsmith77 ones.
I had this issue while working on our shopping cart implementation for a customer where the customer wanted to show the unavailability of the items as different lines in the 'flash-error' section of the cart. We had to set an array as the 'flash message' in order to display that information.
So in this case for example having the flash messages types as array would actually make more sense that sending an array to the flasher. Plus the the other issue we had was that we also wanted to add another error in the message but we had to do a check to see if the flash message is an array already or we need to make it an array.
I think it's better not to impose a limit of this sort and let the users be able to handle every scenario, even if some are rare, rather that forcing users to overcome limitations such as these.
I really hope this PR gets approved faster and thanks everyone for their hard work :)

When I spoke to you you said you wanted to make the commit with flash messages with one message per name/type rather than multiple. The old flash messages behaviour is 100% maintained in `AutoExpireFlashBag` which can be the default in the framework if you wish. The `FlashBag` implementation makes Symfony2 ESI compatible.

@stof Yes. I discussed with Fabien over chat there are basically no changes
to flashes in `FlashBag` and `AutoExpireFlashBag` maintains the exact
behaviour as before. The FlashBag just introduces ESI compatible flashes.
There is no way to refactor the sessions without moving the flash messages
to their own bag. The next PR will propose the changes to flashes that
allow multiple messages per name/type. I can size the PR down a little
more removing the new storage drivers and so on to make the PR smaller but
that's really as far as I can go. To be clear, while the API has changed a
little for flashes, the behaviour is the same.

On a side note, the options passed to `FieldType::getDefaultOptions` now always also contain the default options of any parent types. This is necessary if you want to be independent of how `getDefaultOptions` is implemented in the parent type and still rely on the already defined values.
As a result, `FieldType::getParent` doesn't see default options anymore. This shouldn't be a big problem, because this method only relies on options in few cases. If it does, options now need to be checked for existence with `isset` before being used (BC break).

@bschussek doesn't each form has is own dispatcher so there is no need for a global registry here, something local to the form could be good enough.
The listener is used by the Collection type as well as the Choice and Entity type (with multiple
selection). The effect is that you can have for example this model:

I changed ``Form`` and ``FormBuilder`` property ``readOnly`` to ``disabled``. On second thought, this is perhaps not such good change - while readOnly somewhat implied the use-case, disabled no longer does.
Perhaps something else, like ``bindable`` (as not to confuse with read_only attribute of Fields)?

A new ExecutionContext is now created everytime that GraphWalker::walkConstraint() is
launched. Because of this, a validator B launched from within a validator A can't break
A anymore by changing the context.
Because we have a new ExecutionContext for every constraint validation, there is no point
in modifying its state anymore. Because of this it is now immutable.

You are both wrong :) `getChoices` does not return the choices with their associated labels anymore. What you get now are the choice indices as array keys and the choice values as array values. How both are determined depends on the index and value generation strategy, which, in your case, are both COPY_CHOICE.
The difference between simple and complex choice lists is, that simple choice lists can only contain scalar values as choices, while other choice lists (such as ObjectChoiceList, EntityChoiceList) may contain objects as choices.
Choice labels are now stored in ChoiceView objects, which are returned by the various `get*Views` methods.

I just used choice lists extensively, even for not directly form-related stuff. In one case, I'm using two of them (which are also used individually) to build up a third one. That went well using the old `ArrayChoiceList`s and their `getChoices` method. Just thinking about creating another set of model classes which just contain my lists. So for only one select field in a form it'll take three classes then: (A) a list, (B) a choice list based on A, (C) a choice form type based on B. Oh well ... :D

The changes in this PR are primarily motivated by the fact that invalid form/field names lead to various problems.
1. When a name contains any characters that are not permitted in HTML "id" attributes, these are invalid
2. When a name contains periods ("."), form validation is broken, because they confuse the property path resolution
3. Since choices in expanded choice fields are directly translated to field names, choices applying to either 1. or 2. lead to problems. But choices should be unrestricted.
4. Unless a choice field is not expanded and does not allow multiple selection, it is not possible to use empty strings as choices, which might be desirable in some occasions.
The solution to these problems is to
* Restrict form names to disallow unpermitted characters (solves 1. and 2.)
* Generate integer indices to be stored in the HTML "id" and "name" attributes and map them to the choices (solves 3.). Can be reverted to the old behaviour by setting the option "index_generation" to ChoiceList::COPY_CHOICE
* Generate integer values to be stored in the HTML "value" attribute and map them to the choices (solves 4.). Can be reverted to the old behaviour by setting the option "value_generation" to ChoiceList::COPY_CHOICE
Apart from these fixes, it is now possible to write more flexible choice lists. One of these is `ObjectChoiceList`, which allows to use objects as choices and is bundled in the core. `EntityChoiceList` has been made an extension of this class.

The regexp in MoneyType doesn't work if currency format has no decimal
(like JPY) and doesn't work either if the currency symbol is unicode
This change fixes both issues and adds a unit test
ad (1): HTML4 "id" attributes are limited to strings starting with a letter and containing only letters, digits, underscores, hyphens, periods and colons.
ad (2): Property paths contain three special characters needed for correct parsing: left/right bracket and period.
The rules for form naming are:
* Names may start with a letter, a digit or an underscore. Leading digits or underscores will be stripped from the "id" attributes.
* Names must only contain letters, digits, underscores, hyphens and colons.
* Root forms may have an empty name.

It's needed because with TextType field, and without the ValueToStringTransformer, the user data (when sending the form) can be an array !!!
For example:
- if there is a TextType field
- and if there is a MaxLengthValidator
- and if the user data (when sending the form) is an array
So the exception "Expected argument of type string, array given in src\Symfony\Component\Validator\Constraints\MaxLengthValidator.php at line 40" is thrown

You should also pass the pattern option to the DateTimeToLocalizedStringTransformer so the pattern is taken in consideration when converting from and to localized string. You can check the commit I did on my repository (maoueh/symfony@01ae75dd84) which do the same as yours for the DateType but also includes the modification needed by the DateTimeToLocalizedStringTransformer class.
Not sure if there is more work needed to fully support the pattern option. Moreover, I did not run the tests to check if everything pass correctly. It would also be a good idea to add some tests to check that the date_pattern is working as expected.

There is also a problem with the regex, but this is not regarding the pattern option. If you set the 'format' option to 0, it returns the IntlDateFormatter::FULL but it does not pass the regex because there is first EEEE in the standard pattern so it comes on the fallback pattern year month day

Hell yeah! :) You should do a rebase the next time instead of merging Symfony master branch into yours:
`git rebase symfony/master date_pattern` and when you need to push your changes to your repository, do `git push -f origin date_pattern`. This way, it will be easier for the core team to handle the merge process.
Since @dot-i-fy opened a pull request for fixing the same issue as here, maybe it would be a good idea to close this PR?

If yes ...The option "format" already allows an IntlDateFormatter input, you can either set a \IntlDateFormatter::MEDIUM for example or an integer representing the dateType to use (0 -> full, 1 -> long, ... ).
The problem we are reveling here is the pattern based off the dateFormat option :
the $formatter look for Locale -> then for format option and based off these options he generate a pattern who can be different regarding the Locale. For example, for me I have my locale in php set to fr_BE, so my dates are always d-m-Y formatted but if I want to modify that it is momently not possible.

@mweimerskirch: Maybe it would be better to rename your option html_pattern? Since the pattern is not strictly associated to a date type, it would be a better name in my opinion if it was named html_pattern or html5_pattern?
I think it would lead to more misunderstandings if we had a date_pattern and a pattern option. In both cases, I agree totally that one or the other needs a renaming. Moreover, if we change the pattern option in the date type, I think the format option should be changed also to date_format.

I did the changes to make it possible to pass a custom pattern via the format option. I sent a PR on @kertz repository [here](https://github.com/kertz/symfony/pull/2) that will be merge eventually in this PR.
I have two small questions about it. First, since format option can now be a string, the allowed values for the option `format` have been removed from the array returned by `getAllowedOptionValues`. The check is done instead in the method `buildForm` directly. The 'format' option can be either one of the `IntlDateFormatter` constants (FULL, LONG, MEDIUM, or SHORT) or a string. If those conditions are not respected, a `FormException` is thrown. Is this correct?
When the `format` option is a custom pattern, the IntlDateFormatter needs a valid format even if it will not be used. So I retrieved the default format option by using the `getDefaultOptions` method. Is this correct or should I specify the default value directly:
this (specify directly):
$format = \IntlDateFormatter::MEDIUM;
instead of (use predefined defaults):
$defaultOptions = $this->getDefaultOptions($options);
$format = $defaultOptions['format'];
Also added more tests to verify that the format option is validated correctly and updated previous ones.

It is simpler to use the pattern of the formatter directly I think. The reason is that if the option to change the format is null, the default pattern of the formatter will be available and will be the right pattern to use. If the option is set, we modify the formatter before hand so getting the pattern from it will return the custom pattern we have set in the options.
So in both cases, no conditional is required to verify if it is set or not when retrieving the pattern from the formatter. Moreover, I think the pattern must be set as an attribute of the form for your suggestion to work correctly which is not the case right now.

Remove useless code
This PR is about removing useless code which could benefit to perfomances.

As a minor modif, I can understand if this could not be merged while in RC.

Added support for additional attributes in Form types that list field as their parent.
This is needed particularity for html5 data and data- attributes support, unfortunately $options['data'] is already taken, so adding a general $options['attributes'] is the easiest solution without breaking BC.
Now I know that this will be tempting for some to stuck style and class attributes here also, but I'd rather not restrict the keys that are passed in.

Maybe it should be called attr for consistency with the template stuff, or the other should be renamed attributes. Other than that, I'm +1, data-* attributes are awesome, and abusers will find ways to abuse things either way.

Naming it attr also crossed my mind when I was signing off yesterday.
Along with the possibility to go the way xml attributes are handled when node is converted to/from array.
So every option with @ prefix would automatically become html attribute. However going the latter path, it'd be harder to implement.

You can use `array('attr' => array('data-foo' => 'bar'))`, which will output `data-foo="bar"`, which can be read easily by jQuery for example as `$('el').data('foo')`. It's a standard compliant and elegant way to pass extra data needed by the JS code along with DOM nodes, without polluting everything with script tags and all.

Well, I agree it most likely belongs in the template, but it's kind of data stuff that is not directly impacting the display rules of the element, so in some cases having the possibility to set that from the php code might be useful. Anyway I'll let @mvrhov answer maybe he had a more concrete use case. I just think it's nice to leave the door open, but I don't really need it.

A bit late to the party. Ok, here is my use-case.
I have a pretty large form where part of the data is of tabular form. The number of rows is almost every time a lot larger than the number of columns
So I can either output a lot of text inputs filled with data and make already a large form intimidating. Or I can use a grid that supports editing. So I serialize that tabular data as json and put it as a value into one hidden field. Somehow I also have to get the column definitions to that grid. I decided to I serialize it and put it inside data-* attribute. Putting it into another hidden field doesn't make sense as when data is submitted back I don't need the column definitions as only the number of rows changes.

I have to get it into the view somehow. What I'd really not like to do is, iterate through that data in a controller and then pass it as another template variable.

IMHO this has to go out through form as this is the part of the form also I do have a very slim controllers in this case 10 LOC, where half of them is just setting up an view data..
Nonetheless I went looking again very closely at the AbstractType and I do have buildView function available which I can override and set the column data I need there, and then provide custom view for that, so at least from this part this is an non issue.
With this PR all default form attributes can be set from outside and when searching for a good use-case I have found out that @henrikbjorn has implemented this via extensions [1], maybe he has a good use-case for this.

I want to support two ways to display additional attributes for form elements.
1) control in template like
{{ form_row(form.name, { 'width': '30' }) }}
2) control from php
$builder->add('name', 'text', array('attr'=>array('width'=>'30')));
If form elements configure by end user like cms,
and form elements dynamically change.
The second method is useful.
template designer can write {{form_row(form)}}
but
template designer can not write {{form_row(form.name), { 'width': '30' }}}

I'm going to merge it as a "convenience" tool, but the documentation should clearly state that the only usage should be for `data-*` attributes.

This PR should be a base for discussion.
The [current implementation](https://github.com/symfony/symfony/pull/1188) has some drawbacks because the prototype view is not a child of the collection view:
* The 'multipart' attribute is not propagated from the prototype to the collection,
* The prototype view do not use the theme from the collection.
Those 2 points are fixed by the proposed implementation and one more benefit is that the template markup might be easier to work with:

The templates are much better but I'm a bit concerned that we need to add the logic into the Form class directly. That looks quite ugly. If there is no other way, I will merge it.

@kriswallsmith tried and dismissed, the id and name are bad & you have to go for `render_widget(form.get('proto'))` in the template. That should be fixeable but not any better.

That should be the id of the `<input>`, the id of the script would be `form_emails_$$name$$_prototype_prototype` (if prototype is the name of the nested node).

I would have expected it to be faster however `array_map` is about twice slower... reverted !
Rules are as follows:
* If multiple is true, then the empty_value is ignored
* If not, and if the field is not required, the empty_value is set to the empty string by default and displayed
* If the field is required, and if the user explicitely set the empty_value, then it is displayed

The current implementation is not ready for inclusion in 2.0. It has several
known problems (security, not possible to disable it, not "cloud-compatible",
